The Poetry Pit!

Welcome to my Poetry Pit! On the first day of each month, I will publish one of my poems.

In the Poetry Pit, you can leave a creative poem.  Here is my first poem for you!

I like my spaghetti,
I would marry it if I was ready!

I like it with my meat sauce!
I like it with my red sauce!

Spaghetti, yeah, spaghetti, yeah!
I told you I like my spaghetti!

I came up with this poem when we were driving to the restaurant to get their AMAZING spaghetti!  I hope you like it!

Have you ever written a poem before?
Can you add anything to my poem?
Do you like spaghetti?

here is our verse for your poem:

    I like my spaghetti
    so twirly and whirly,
    cheesy and pleasy,
    covered in sauce!

    1. Dear B4,

I love your lovely comment! It adds nicely to my poem. I hope you have a wonderful new school year! Mrs. Yollis, my teacher, told us that yesterday was your first day of school! We started school in August! We have been in school for a while now. We just had our holiday break, which was a little over two weeks! How long is your break from school?

      Your new blogging buddy,
      Sasha♥

  2. Dear Sasha,

I love your post! I have never had written a poem, but I enjoy reading poetry.
My favorite poem is the one my mom wrote for me.
    I also like spaghetti, preferably
    sprinkled with parmesan cheese.

These are a few lines that you could add to your poem :

    Give me please,
    spaghetti with cheese.
    They taste so delicious
    even Cruella stops being vicious.
    Slippery and long,
    they make you strong.
If you have a big pot,
    you can eat a lot!
    And, my oh my,
as a desert I'll have pie!

    Love,

    Kelly

    1. Dear Kelly,

I love your comment SO MUCH! Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog! I can't believe that you're not a poem writer yet. I think my favorite topping on my spaghetti is probably also parmesan cheese! I love it so much that sometimes I take a bowl and some parmesan cheese, and I eat it with nothing else! Isn't that funny?

What is your favorite thing to put on your pizza?

      Love,
      Sasha♥♥

  3. Dear Sasha,

I love the idea of The Poetry Pit,
It's a creative idea that will be a hit!

A couplet is a two line rhyme,
I have written several over time.

For your next poem, I cannot wait,
I just know it is going to be great!

    Thanks for a great post!

    Your proud teacher,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

    Spaghetti, spaghetti,
    Oh, I love you spaghetti.
I wish I could wear you to school and have you as a pet.
You are so yummy, yum yum in my tum,

  5. Dear Sasha,

I like your poem. I know why you like this particular restaurant's spaghetti so much, I had a craving for it when I was pregnant with you!

I needed spaghetti in my tummy.
    I thought it was yummy.

I ate it evening and morn,
    and then you were born!

Glad to know I fed you what you like.

  6. Dear Sasha,

What great idea for a post! We loved reading your poem and how all of your readers added great rhyming couplets to your poem. One of our favorite poetry author is Shel Silverstein and he has a funny poem on spaghetti:

Spaghetti, spaghetti, all over the place,

Up to my elbows—up to my face,

Over the carpet and under the chairs,

Into the hammock and wound round the stairs,

Filling the bathtub and covering the desk,

Making the sofa a mad mushy mess.

The party is ruined, I’m terribly worried,

The guests have all left (unless they’re all buried).

I told them, “Bring presents.” I said, “Throw confetti.”

    I guess they heard wrong

    ‘Cause they all threw spaghetti!

    1. Dear Sarah and Miriam,

Thank you for leaving a spectacular comment on my blog! My brother has a couple of Shel Silverstein's books. Though I haven't read this one before, I L♥VE this poem! What is your favorite line in the poem? Mine is probably "Spaghetti, spaghetti, all over the place, Up to my elbows up to my face!" What is your favorite poem by Shel Silverstien? Do you know any other poets?

      Your friend,

  7. Dear Sasha,

I really love this post! My favorite poet is Shel Silverstein. One of the poems I treasure is called Captain Hook. This how it goes

    "Captain Hook must remember
    Not to scratch his toes.
    Captain Hook must watch out
    And never pick his nose.
    Captain Hook must be gentle
    When he shakes your hand.
    Captain Hook must be careful
    Openin' sardine cans
And playing tag and pouring tea
And turnin' pages of his book
    Lots of folks I'm glad I ain't-
But mostly Captain Hook" Do you like the poem. Oh yes I like spaghetti.

    Warmly,
    Ellie

    1. Dear Ellie,

Thank you for leaving a wondrous comment on my blog! My favorite poet is Shel Silverstein too! My two favorite poems by her are My Beard and Band Aids!

Here is the poem My Beard!

My beard grows down to my toes,
      I never wears no clothes,
      I wraps my hair
      Around my bare,
And down the road I goes.

Here is the other poem Band Aids also by Shel Silverstein.

      I have a Band-Aid on my finger,
One on my knee, and one on my nose,
One on my heel, and two on my shoulder,
Three on my elbow, and nine on my toes.
Two on my wrist, and one on my ankle,
One on my chin, and one on my thigh,
Four on my belly, and five on my bottom,
One on my forehead, and one on my eye.
One on my neck, and in case I might need em
      I have a box of thirty-five more.
But oh! I do think it's sort of a pity
      I don't have a cut or a sore!

      Sincerely,
      Sasha♥
