Welcome!

Dear Blogging Friends,

My name is Sasha.  I am a 3rd grade student in Mrs. Yollis' class.  I live with my mom, dad, and my brother in California.  I love going to school, learning, and playing with my friends.  I enjoy writing stories, reading, singing and dancing!  I love candy.  I am a candy queen. I also love animals.  I want a bunny and a hamster!

I am very excited to welcome you to my brand new blog, Sasha's Sensational Scoop!  I feel very lucky to be in Mrs. Yollis' class.  I have already learned so many things this year, including the art of blogging!  Thank you so much Mrs. Yollis for giving me the opportunity to have my own blog!

I hope you enjoy blogging with me as much as I enjoy creating it!  Please visit often and leave a comment, story, or a poem.

Tell me about yourself:

What is your favorite candy?
Do you have a pet?
What is, or was your favorite subject in school?

Your new blogging buddy,
Sasha

  1. Dear Sasha,
My favorite candy is an English candy that is made up of chocolate-covered honeycomb; although I don't know the name of it, it is REALLY tasty. As you know, I don't have a pet. I have many favorite subjects in school, but my three favorite subjects are English, Math and Science.
Congratulations on getting your own blog,
    Your Brother: Ethan

  2. Dear Ethan,

Thank you so much for leaving a comment on my blog! I love your quality comment! I tried the honeycomb candy and it was DELICIOUS! Although it is not my favorite candy, I liked it very much! My favorite candy is: every single candy in the world! Ha Ha!

Thank you for congratulating me on my blog!

    Your sister,
    Sasha

  3. Dear Sasha,

I love your blog! It's fantastic! I know that one of your hobbies are writing stories because on Mrs Yollis' blog you wrote the most outstanding stories. My favorite was the one about the blackberry named Yumberry! It was so cute!

Answering your question, my favorite candy is Hershey's milk chocolate. Mmmm...mmm...mmm... I can smell the chocolate! I know you love all candy, but if you could pick one, what would it be?

    Congratulations!

    Sincerely,

    M♥a

  4. Dear Mia,

Thank you for commenting on my blog! You are the 2nd person that left a comment on my blog! I love Hershey chocolate too. I think that if the world was made out of candy, I would eat it all in one bite!

Have you tried the new Hershey's candy? To answer your question, my favorite candy would probably have to be Nik-L-Nips! Nik-L-Nips are little wax candy bottles that have juice inside of them! They are DELICIOUS! I get them in Las Vegas! A long way to go for them, but they are worth it!

    Have you ever tried Nik-L-Nips?

    Sincerly,
    Sasha♥

  5. Dear Sasha,

Welcome to the world of blogging! I think you have done a fabulous job assembling the parts of a blog. You have some fun and useful gadgets and none of the top ones are animated. Remember how distracting it was to have something spinning when you are trying to read?

You have already been replying to your readers. That tells me that you are going to be a great blogger! Well done, Sasha!

You asked about my pets. Recently, Mr. Yollis and I got an African gray parrot. He is very pretty and spends a lot of him time mimicking what he hears. He whistles, says hello, says Todd, my husband's name, and a manifold of other sounds. (Manifold is a fancy adjective that means numerous.)

If you got a bunny or a hamster, what name would you give?

    Your proud teacher,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

  6. Dear Sasha
Wow, I am amazed by how many students in your class are earning their own blogs. Congratulations to you for earning yours. :)

I like candy too, but I try to not eat it very often. In New Zealand we have a variety of names for candy. We might say 'sweets' or 'lollies' and if it's chocolate we would probably call it a 'chocolate bar' or even just a 'chocolate'.
One of my favourite chocolates is Pineapple Lumps. Did you get to try one when B4 sent a packet to your class? I also like chocolate-covered Turkish Delight. Mmmmm!

Do you prefer chocolates or other candy?

    Sweet dreams!

  7. Hi Sasha,
I am a proud teacher too, just like Mrs. Yollis. My students are a little older than you--in 7th and 8th grade. They love to blog too.

Here is a little about me.
My favorite candy of all time would have to be a whole box of See's candy--the nuts and chews variety box. (I would share the box with my friends and family, but I love all the choices.) Actually, I could be called a candy queen too. I love all kinds of candy!

We have just one pet now. It's a goldfish that my daughter was sitting for when her boyfriend studied in Italy four years ago. It is a fantail beauty living a long life in our kitchen because her boyfriend didn't really want it back.

My favorite school subject was geography when I was a child, and then I went to college and majored in geography. I love to study countries and their cultures and how they are situated on earth.

Keep up the great work on your blog!
    Mrs. Krebs

  8. Dear Sasha

Congratulations on getting your new blog. It looks great and your first post was nice and easy to read.

My favourite candy would have to be chocolate, particularly Cadbury's Top Deck. It has milk chocolate and white chocolate together and is yummy.

My favourite subject in school is very hard to choose as I now enjoy teaching so many different things. I remember loving art lots when I was in Primary School.

  9. Hello Sasha. Congratulations on getting your own blog. You've made a great start to it.
I try not to eat too much chocolate but when I do I like Lindt chocolate balls and Maltesers. Do you have those in the US?
I have two dogs - they are called Mary & Ellie. We used to have 5 guinea pigs, and we have also had budgies, a rabbit, a hamster and a gerbil.
When I was in school (a long time ago now) my favourite subjects were English & French.

  10. Sasha, congratulations on your blog.

I don't have a pet, but my wife does. Max is a Shih Tzu. Mostly he lies around the house, but every once in a while he goes crazy and runs around the living room.

My favorite candy is Reece's Peanut Butter Cups. Actually it is kind of strange that it is my favorite because I am not that fond of peanut butter.

My favorite subject in school was and is history. I also really enjoyed my literature classes in high school and college.

  11. Hi Sasha,

Congratulations on creating an amazing blog! I am very proud of you and hope that that your blog will be fun and enriching for both you and your readers. I have already noticed that people from all over the world have begun to blog with you. That is as you say, "very cool".

You obviously know that I like candy too. My best tip is to mix Hot Tamales and popcorn together in one bite at the movies. I do have to agree a previous poster regarding See's nuts and chews. That is one of my all time favorites as well.

Have fun posting. I will post again soon.

    Love,

    Rob (Dad)

  12. Dear Sasha,
Congratulations on earning your own blog! What a wonderful name to call your blog. I look forward to reading all about your adventures.

Like you, I also like candy but try not to eat too many of them. My favorite candy is chocolate especially dark chocolate.

    Happy blogging,
    Victoria (Sarah's mom)

  13. Hello Sensational Sasha,

I am very excited about your new blog. I'm sure you will have some great comments and interesting discussions about many things. I am glad you started discussing favorite candy, what could be better?

My favorite candy is the Almond Joy. I love any combination of dark chocolate and nuts, well any nuts except hazelnuts. Please tell your brother that his favorite candy is sometimes called Sea foam and it is also a favorite of grandma Sandi. When I was a child we would buy it at the candy counter at Sears. I don't think they sell candy at Sears anymore... that was a long time ago!

I have a wonderful dog named Mija which in Spanish means precious daughter. Mija is a mix, but I think she is mostly a yellow lab. I also have a desert box turtle named Cinnamon who is hibernating in Uncle Pat's closet for the winter. Can you imagine not eating anything for 4 months, especially candy?

    With love,
    Auntie Laur

  14. Dear Sasha,

Congratulations on earning your own blog! I can't believe how amazing of writers all of you in Mrs. Yollis' class are!

I have a dog named Oscar. He's extremely rowdy and rambunctious but I love him anyway!

I look forward to reading more of what you have to share!

    Sincerely,

  15. Hello Sasha,

Welcome to the world of blogging. A first post is a big step into something wonderful. You never know where in the world your blog may be read. :)

You love candy? I have a weakness for chocolate. :) You would probably like a shop in my town. It's called "The Lolly Shop". We usually call candy lollies here in Australia so the shop specialises in all sorts of treats. As long as we keep them as treats and not have too much at any time, they are great.

I like your blog title. "Sasha's Sensational Scoop" seems like you are going to be making many wonderful posts.

Favourite candy? Already answered... anything chocolate :)

Pet? No longer but I feed the birds that come to my yard. They include rainbow lorrikeets, crimson rosellas, eastern rosellas, king parrots, wonga pigeons, crested pigeons, and many other Australian birds you probably haven't heard of before. :)

My favourite school subject? Now that is hard as I was excited about every subject we did when I was teaching. I loved art, craft, maths and science but also enjoyed reading writing, social studies and health education. I always thought it important for a teacher to enjoy what they teach. If a teacher finds it boring, so will the class. :)

Keep blogging. This post is a great start.

  16. Dear Sasha,

Well done upon getting your blog and I just love the whole out lay of it.
    Your blog looks awesome.

No I don't have my own blog but you have got me thinking maybe I may one day.

I love the sweet question you asked and my favourite sweet would be cherry ripes as well as dark chocolate.

My favourite subject when I was at school was art and craft as well as social studies.

All the very best with your blog.

    YOurs sincerely,
    AA.

  17. Dear AA,

Thank you for leaving me a comment! It was a spectacular one too! I like chocolate a lot too, but what are cherry ripes? Are they chocolate covered cherries? I don't think that they sell them where I live. Anyway I have heard a lot of great things about you (from Mrs. Yollis)! If you do get a blog what would you name it?

Again, thank you so much for leaving a comment!

    Yours truly,
    ♥Sasha♥

  18. Dear Mr. Manell,

Thank you so much for leaving a comment on my blog! Thank you also for the compliment. My friend loves chocolate so much! I think that my two favorite candy stores are in Las Vegas! The stores are The Sweet Factory, and Lick! The Sweet Factory is also a restaurant! I ate chocolate chip pancakes with milk chocolate, syrup, and lots and lots of whipped cream! Yum in my tum tum tum!

Once in class, Mrs. Yollis came in with a package! It was labeled lollies, and it was from Australia! 2km and 2kj sent it to us. Mrs. Yollis said "What do you think lollies are?" Then I said "Maybe lollies are lollipops?" That was a true story.

    Thanks again.

    Sincerely,
    Sasha♥♥

  19. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

Thank you so much for everything! You are one of the best teachers in the world (in my opinion)! I also think you have an amazing blog! Thank you for leaving a comment!

I have seen Harvey on your blog before! I think that if I got a bunny I would name it Sweet Tart and if I got a hamster I would name it Cupcake! Thats why I named my mascot Cupcake!

I don't think you mentioned your favorite candy?

Again, thank you for being such a great teacher!

    Your student,
    ♥Sasha♥♥

  20. @ Sasha,

You are welcome! However, I must say, you earned this blog through hard work and responsible work habits! Good for you!

Ah, yes...my favorite candy. I have many favorites depending on my mood. Like your dad, I adore Hot Tamales. I also am fond of mints like Junior Mints and York Patty Mints.

When it comes to special chocolates I have an appreciation of Sees Milk Bordeaux. Have you ever had one? They have little sprinkles all over them! Yum!

Did you notice anything about the bold words? :-) Hint: remember how we worked with a thesaurus today?

    Your proud teacher,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

  21. Dear Sasha,

Congratulations on your blog! It is fun and colorful just like you! I am so excited to share this experience with you. I have certainly learned a lot working to create the blog. Thank goodness for your brother the tech guy! He was instrumental in setting everything up!

As far as candy goes, you are just a candy princess in my eyes. Mom is the real candy queen. Just as long as it contains something sweet, I love it! But, if I had to settle on one type of candy as my favorite, I would have to say it is Sour Patch Kids. How awful that I like pure sugar. Chocolate isn't so bad either. A good box of See's molasses chips sounds pretty good right now.

You know I love animals but for now, we will be visiting the pet store to make new friends. Lastly, my favorite subjects in school had to be Social Studies and English.

    Much love and pride,

    Mom

  22. Dear Sasha,

Your cousin Mariah here. Congratulations on your blog. You are doing some amazing writing. I have enjoyed reading the blog with Aunt Laur. My mom first told me about all the great stuff you have been accomplishing while I was in India. I am so proud of you for starting something this big at your age, you must be keeping really busy answering everyone's comments.

My favorite candy in America is the Twix bar because you get 3 of my favorite things all together, a crunchy, caramelly, chocolate mouth watering bite! Actually I have not had a Twix for awhile because they don't have them in India. I did find I have a great liking for an Indian sweet called Ladu which is a fried swirlly bread with sweet honey syrup in the middle of the swirls.

Love you Sasha and I look forward to reading your next post.

    Love, Your big cous,Mariah

  23. Dear Sasha,

What a great blog! I can't wait to see your next post.

My favorite candy is chocolate! I agree with your mom and Mrs. Yollis, See's is delicious. I love their Milk Chocolate Bordeaux too, it's yummy. I also like lemon drops.

  24. Dear Sasha,

I was so excited to read your blog. Auntie Laur guided me to the blog. I am so proud of you for doing such a great job creating it and sharing wonderful things with everyone that finds you on the internet. I can learn a lot about you and you can learn so much from everyone around the world that comments. It should be a wonderful adventure for you.

I love dark chocolate! It's even better with some special carmel and a drop of sea salt. If I have to pick something at the local grocery or drug store, it would have to be Reece's Peanut Butter Cups. Did you know that you and your cousins have a common love for candy? Of course, Mariah is also a candy queen, but Nate is a Candy-a-holic (not sure if that is a real word??) I also love to try different candies when I travel to different places.

No pets in our home, but the boys have been asking for a dog for a long time and we may have to get one soon. Our fish are not with us anymore, but we enjoyed them and their babies. Regarding your question about school subjects, I loved math when I was your age, but found a new love of science when I went back to school in 2009 to become a Radiation Therapist.

I look forward to keeping up with you through your blog. Sounds like you have an amazing teacher and are a great student. Keep up the good work. I love you!

    Lots of hugs,
    Auntie Kar
